COURSE GOALS asnd DESCRIPTION
Course Goals To Introduce FPGA technology, logic synthesis, and rapid prototyping of digital systems using commercial CAD tools.
Prerequisites by Topic 1. Co-requisite Cs342 Major Topics Covered in the Course 1. Tutorial I: Very simple digital design. 2. The Altera Board. 3. Programmable Logic Technology. 4. Tutorial II: Sequential Design and Hierarchy. 5. Core Library Functions. 6. Using VHDL for Synthesis of Digital Hardware. 7. State Machine Design: The Electric Train Controller, CPU Controller. 8. A Simple Computer Design: The Single Cycle Processor. 9. VGA Video Display Generation (optional). 10. Communications: Interfacing to the PS/2 Keyboard.(optional) 11.
