Akira Kawaguchi is an Associate Professor (profile) and a Director of Master's program in Information Systems (MIS). His primary research interests center around the area of database and transaction processing systems (focus). He has currently two full time PhD students, and is looking for another PhD student with outstanding math background, wishing to develop the 'next generation' software systems together.

Professor Kawaguchi's research has been funded by NYC DEP, NASA SBIR, NJS DOT, NYS DOT, Bayer Co., LINKfoundation Inc., and PSC CUNY research awards.
